What I’m Reading
What I choose to read when the assignments are over, and why.
My semester is finally over! This means that I now have time for all of the books I was recommended, or that I stumbled upon across this whole semester. So, here’s what I’ve decided to read this winter break and why:
The Path to Being a Pastor by Bobby Jamieson - because I aspire to be a pastor and I want to grow in my capabilities and prepare well, as well as make wise decisions.
What is a Healthy Church? by Mark Dever - because I want to pastor a church that is healthy and prizes the Word of God highly enough to structure itself based on Scripture
The Deliberate Church: Building Your Ministry on the Gospel by Mark Dever and Paul Alexander - because I want to fine tune our youth ministry to make sure it’s founded and functioning in the Gospel.
All Things for Good by Thomas Watson - because I’ve fallen in love with the puritans and can’t stop reading them.
The Expulsive Power of a New Affection - so I can see how the Puritans understood affections
Encouragement for the Depressed by Charles Spurgeon - because it was a tough semester for my family and we need some encouragement.
The Heart of Jesus: How He Really Feels About You by Dane Ortlund - This condensed version of Gentle and Lowly is what we’re walking through with our youth leaders.
Friendship with the Friend of Sinners by Jared C. Wilson - so I can be a friend how Jesus would want, and so I can be humbled by Christ’s compassion.
Brothers. We Are Not Professionals: A Plea to Pastors for Radical Ministry by John Piper - because I greatly respect Piper’s ministry, so I care about how he says we should minister.
Eusebius: The Church History - so I can stay founded in church history during break
The Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis - because I need to read some good fiction
Dune by Frank Herbert - because I need to finish it eventually
What are you reading and why? I’d love to know!

I've read a few of those, like the Lewis trilogy... Several I have not read. I'm going to check out the Piper book because I've heard about it for years and never read it. Thanks for the list!
